What are Your Habits?

"We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore,
is not an act but a habit."

Tweet Me, Baby, One More Time

This is a twitter conversation that my friends and I had yesterday. Sorry, world.

Abi: "Awesome! I've got a drummer, now I just need another noisemaker, who's in?"
Becca: "if you can't find anyone else i'm always up for it"
Abi: "actually I told Laura to contact you guys to open up the night, but if it doesn't work out or you want to play two sets, I would love to have you make more noise with me! :D"
Me: "that sounds dirty"
Abi: "who says it's not?"

You Will Not Abandon My Soul

Psalm 16
A Miktam of David.

1 Preserve me, O God, for in you I take refuge.

2 I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you.”

3 As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones,
in whom is all my delight.

4 The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply;
their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out
or take their names on my lips.

5 The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup;
you hold my lot.

6 The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.

7 I bless the Lord who gives me counsel;
in the night also my heart instructs me.

8 I have set the Lord always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.

9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices;
my flesh also dwells secure.

10 For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol,
or let your holy one see corruption.

11 You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Love

1 Corinthians 13:4-7, ESV
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Father, I have not been living under the product of Your abundant love. Let me walk in the promises You give to me. Teach me. Heart, listen to His teachings. Help my unbelief. I receive Your love that I may, in turn, love others like you love them. Make me an instrument of Your peace. I am guilty of envy, boastfulness, arrogance, rudeness, insisting on my own way, irritability, and resentfulness. I am guilty. You see my thoughts and actions. I am guilty. But, You have come to wash and purify and sanctify my soul. I trust in You. I lean not on my own understanding. My mind and flesh are weak, but You, Oh Lord, are a refuge. Help me walk in Your great love.

I Am Me

“So, when they ask why a nice girl like me would spit in the face of social norms, I will tell them that I want to be who I am, not what I’m told. I will tell them that I deserve to be comfortable in my life and make myself at home in my body. Lastly, I will tell them that I am me, and I am okay."
